YA Series of Sports Titles with Female Protagonists

These seven very successful books, written for pre-teen girls, with successful female protagonists in all of the common sports, were originally published by the author and sold tens of thousands of copies total before being picked up by Simon & Schuster’s YA division where they proceeded to sell very well. All told, the series has sold over 140,000 copies and personally, I don’t think they have worn out the YA market in the least bit, considering they haven’t been marketed for the last 2-3 years and the YA market constantly replaces itself every 3-4 years. The author/publisher isn’t looking for a huge advance as much as a home where the titles may become long term backlist and promoted and available. Covers and text current, all rights reversions in order, the seven books might be “sold” for a few thousand per title plus a standard royalty. The buyer would have a ready made and a proven successful series for YA for a nominal investment. Two additional manuscripts are currently available from the author on equally attractive terms, and more are in development.
Pricing was $2,500 per title for rights and another $1,500 per title in advance royalties. You can’t create new books at five times this cost, and certainly not a series with a 140,000 unit sale history.
